How Far Away Is Home Sweet Mexico? I

I want to be in town on a fortnight. I'm going to ride a bike, or just take a stroll, into a town that resides somewhere's round here. Perhaps the town will be Saugutuck, or perhaps it will be Des Moines, my favorite word. Actually, for now it'll be the place where I live, which is just a mile or five down the road. Next thing we know I'm asking a random stranger," how far is it from here to the place down in Chattahoochee?" Or, how far is it to get to Mexico? TX? I'm running kind of late, and I'm riding a bike, so could you just conjure up a figure so that I can ponder about it? I'm going to need some food for thought on my journey.
